Tesla has announced price increases for all its car models in Canada, effective Feb. 1.
The price hikes come amid escalating trade tensions between the United States and Canada. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has recently stated that Canada is prepared to retaliate if US President Donald Trump follows through with a 25% tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico, a measure set to take effect on Feb. 1.
Tesla has not given a specific explanation for the price changes. Currently, Canada imposes a 100% tariff on electric vehicles imported from China, which includes Teslas manufactured in Shanghai.
The new pricing adjustments are as follows:
-
Model 3: Price increases of up to C$9,000 (US$6,254.78).
-
Model Y: Increases of up to C$4,000.
-
Model S and Model X: Price hikes of C$4,000 for all versions.
