The agreement was formalized by UACH Rector Luis Rivera Campos and BYD Buses Mexico CEO Zhou Zou during a ceremony in Chihuahua.
“This partnership aims to create a collaborative framework that fosters student training and innovation in sustainable mobility,” said Rivera Campos. Zhou Zou highlighted the importance of linking higher education with industrial innovation to advance critical sectors. “Collaborating with academic institutions enhances the mobility sector’s capacity for innovation and contributes to national development,” he stated.
The agreement includes several initiatives to strengthen ties between academia and industry, such as:
-
Exchange programs for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as academic and administrative staff.
-
National and international academic exchange programs.
-
Joint research projects and participation in seminars, conferences, and academic meetings.
-
Development of short-term academic programs and support for postgraduate research stays for master’s, doctoral, and postdoctoral students.
-
Exchange of academic, scientific, and technical materials.
“Integrating university education with technological innovation is a cornerstone of our mission. It enhances students’ comprehensive training while expanding research and professional opportunities,” Rivera Campos noted.
The memorandum represents a long-term commitment to cooperation in technological development and sustainability. Both parties emphasized that the partnership’s success will be measured by the implementation of joint projects and the integration of academic knowledge into industrial innovation.
“This collaboration allows us to transform academic research into practical applications for sustainable transportation,” added Zhou Zou.
UACH announced plans to begin specific activities and pilot programs with BYD in the coming months, including student internships, faculty-led research projects in collaboration with BYD engineers, and events promoting knowledge transfer.
“We are dedicated to forming partnerships that drive technological advancement and foster the social and economic growth of Chihuahua,” Rivera Campos concluded.
