VEMO Launches Mexico City’s Largest Public EV Hub

Mexican clean mobility company VEMO has inaugurated the country’s largest public urban electric vehicle (EV) charging hub in San Pedro de los Pinos, Mexico City. The facility features 104 connectors and an installed capacity of 6.2 megawatts (MW), representing a significant expansion of EV infrastructure in Mexico.

According to VEMO Charging Network Director Carlos Levy, the hub serves both public users and corporate fleets. “This hub is a key reference point for electromobility open to the general public and companies seeking charging options for their electric fleets,” Levy said. 

Currently, 44 of the 104 connectors are operational, with the remaining units to be deployed in phases. The facility operates 24/7 and includes amenities such as a waiting area, cafeteria, restrooms, security, and high-speed internet. 

The site complements the VEMO Charging Network (VCN), which operates more than 1,200 connectors across 18 Mexican states. Users can locate stations and manage charging sessions through the Watts by VEMO app, which enables payments, support access, and real-time monitoring.

Levy highlighted VEMO’s US$250 million investment led by Vision Ridge Partners, a global sustainable infrastructure investor, announced in September. “This support allows us to expand our public charging network and strengthen Mexico’s electric mobility infrastructure,” he said.

To date, VEMO has raised over US$500 million—US$350 million in equity and US$150 million in debt—from investors including Vision Ridge Partners, Riverstone Holdings, Orion Infrastructure Capital, BEEL Infrastructure Partners, PROMECAP, Covalto, and Kapital. The company plans to invest more than US$1.5 billion over the next five years to expand clean mobility across Mexico and Latin America.

VEMO projects 23,000 connectors across its public and private networks and around 55,000 EVs by 2030. According to the Electro Movilidad Association (EMA), EV and plug-in hybrid sales in Mexico rose 50% year-over-year in 3Q25, while public charging points increased 20%.
