This week, the World Trade Organization (WTO) ranked Mexico as the world’s eighth-largest exporter of AI-enabling goods, with exports hitting US$100 billion, reflecting its growing weight in the global supply chain. Meanwhile, Genesys announced the launch of a Mexico-based data center and new Agentic AI solutions, while Grupo DESC adopted SAP-driven AI to optimize operations across industries. 

In international news, OpenAI and Oracle unveiled a US$300 billion partnership to scale AI infrastructure through massive US data center investments, while Albania appointed Diella, the world’s first AI minister, to oversee procurement and combat corruption.

OpenAI has signed an agreement with technology giant Oracle to build US$300 billion in computing infrastructure, The Wall Street Journal reported. The funding will support the construction of data centers across the United States over about five years, aimed at developing and delivering AI technologies to businesses and consumers.

Albania Appoints World’s First AI Minister: Diella

Albania becomes the first country to appoint an AI as a cabinet member. The AI, named Diella, will oversee public bidding and procurement processes to combat institutional fraud. The initiative aims to eliminate corruption. If successful, similar models could be adopted by countries grappling with corruption, such as Mexico.
