Queretaro, MEXDC Partner to Enhance Technology Skills Among Youth
Key universities in Queretaro have signed a collaboration agreement with the Mexican Data Centers Association (MEXDC) to train young people in key areas of technology and digitalization, solidifying the state as a hub for innovation and investment attraction.
The collaboration between educational institutions and the technology industry not only enriches the educational offerings but also ensures that Queretaro remains a center of innovation, explains Martha Soto, Queretaro’s Minister of Education. "The signing of this agreement is just the beginning of a great opportunity that will positively impact our institutions, our companies, but above all, our youth," says Soto.
Queretaro has positioned itself as one of Mexico’s main technological hubs thanks to its advanced telecommunications infrastructure and its ability to attract foreign investments. The partnership seeks to address the growing demand for professionals trained in areas such as digitalization, data management, and advanced technology management — critical areas for digital transformation in the region.
Governor of Queretaro Mauricio Kuri says that academic and industrial collaboration is crucial to maintaining the state's competitiveness, highlighting that this agreement opens up new job opportunities in sectors beyond traditional technology. "We want the talent to be Mexican, and for things to be operated, maintained, and produced here with the data centers," says Amet Novillo, President, MEXDC, in a press release.
The agreement will also allow for the integration of advanced technologies into the academic programs of various higher education institutions, enabling students to acquire skills aligned with market needs. This approach not only optimizes training but also fosters digital entrepreneurship and technological innovation in the region.
The Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro (UAQ), the Universidad Politécnica de Querétaro (UPQ), and the Tecnológico Nacional de México, campus Queretaro, are some of the universities that signed the agreement. The collaboration will allow universities to strengthen key areas such as data center management, process automation, and software development.
