Amazon’s To Open New Logistic Center in Mexico

Amazon entered the Mexican market in 2013. Since then, the brand has invested in opening service centers to expand its operations in Mexico's other sectors. Its latest accomplishment has been signing the opening of its new logistic center in Yucatan.

In October of this year, Amazon announced a US$100 million investment to strengthen its logistics and delivery times in Mexico. The plan was to create new distribution centers in Monterrey, Guadalajara and places that would contribute to delivery times in the State of Mexico. The idea is to generate new distribution centers and have a total of 27 stations throughout the country. Back then,  having a logistics center in the southern part of Mexico was not crucial, nevertheless, it is today, according to an MBN.

The new logistics center will not only benefit Amazon's transactions, but also promises the creation of high paying and competitive jobs that will be an important factor toward economic recovery for this state. The announcement was given by the governor of Yucatan, Mauricio Vila Dosal. He mentioned that this project would be located in Umán, becoming the first in Mexico´s southeast region, reported El Universal.   

Diego Méndez de la Luz, Director of Amazon Operations in Mexico, stated, "Amazon's expansion reflects our commitment to customers in Mexico, which is focused on improving their experience. We have a responsibility to the country, as well as to the communities where we operate, and we are proud to generate more job opportunities that will contribute to the southeast region of the country." Some of the jobs that will be created will be related to the following fields: operations, security, finance, human resources, and protection lines, among others. The jobs will allow workers to grow within the company and create a new path toward a professional career, reported Expansión.

Vila Dosal emphasized the importance these investments will have for Yucatan, not only will they provide an economic recovery, but they will also attract more investments.  "We have been on a streak, since August, opening wind farms, distribution centers, cement plants and real estate developments, which tells us that things are being done well in Yucatan,” reported  El Universal.
