AT&T Mexico has partnered with Amazon to provide training, connectivity, and e-commerce opportunities for women artisans in Mexico. The initiative aims to bridge the digital divide and expand market access for artisan businesses.

This collaboration strengthens AT&T’s "Conectando Raíces AT&T" initiative, which launched in 2023 to develop digital skills among artisans and expand their economic opportunities. Since Amazon joined the project in 2024, it now includes training sessions on digital literacy, e-commerce platforms, and brand registration.

Women artisans in Tequisquiapan, Queretaro, will be able to sell their products on Amazon’s "Handmade" marketplace category. The program, in partnership with the LU’UM collective, focuses on integrating traditional crafts into the digital economy.

Daniel Ríos, Vice President of External Affairs and Sustainability, AT&T Mexico, emphasized the initiative’s role in economic empowerment. “Connectivity opens opportunities, and we are excited to see ‘Conectando Raíces AT&T’ achieve its goal of closing the digital access gap for Mexican artisans,” he said. “We are proud to contribute to economic development by enabling artisans to reach new markets and expand their opportunities.”

In 2023, the initiative facilitated 29 training courses and workshops, including seven sessions on digital literacy, 17 workshops on digital commerce, and five sessions on brand design and collective trademark registration.

Artisan products are a growing segment in Mexico’s digital economy. Handcrafted fashion accounts for nearly 6% of e-commerce sales, surpassing categories such as jewelry (2.44%), home and garden (1.18%), and art (1.67%), according to data from Tiendanube.
