In Mexico, the holiday season brings an increase in family gatherings, celebrations, and consumer spending, with a significant surge in purchases of gifts, clothing, toys, and decorations. The majority of Mexican shoppers (90%) plan to buy holiday gifts either through a combination of online and physical stores (75%) or exclusively online (15%), according to Kantar’s “Navidad 2024” study.

The study shows that Coppel remains a favorite for holiday shoppers, with the retailer increasing its popularity as a physical store option from 43% in 2022 to 54% in 2024. Coppel’s ability to attract consumers stems from its diverse product offerings, including technology, clothing, and toys.

Eight out of 10 shoppers purchase gifts for family and loved ones during Christmas. The trend shifts around New Year’s Eve, with 70% of consumers focusing on self-purchases, often taking advantage of promotions to update personal items.

The holiday season represents a crucial period for Coppel, as its stores across Mexico see increased foot traffic from customers seeking both affordability and convenience. The company’s online store has also seen significant growth, capturing 33% of consumer preferences for online shopping this season.
