Ikea to Open Mexico's Largest Store in Guadalajara

Ikea is set to open its largest store in Mexico with the launch of Ikea Guadalajara Expo, a 37,000-square-meter space featuring 8,400 products. Located on López Mateos Avenue, this new store is Ikea’s third in Mexico and its largest yet, surpassing the company’s other locations in Mexico City and Puebla.

The store will employ 300 people and is designed to be self-sustaining. It will provide a full range of services, including a dedicated furniture section, self-service and full-service options, and a 730-seat restaurant. This layout mirrors Ikea’s European stores, delivering a comprehensive shopping experience for Guadalajara customers.

Ikea now serves all 32 Mexican states through its e-commerce platform, which experienced 42% growth last year and is projected to grow by 24% this year, according to Jaap Doornbos, Director of Ikano Retail Mexico. Doornbos noted that Jalisco, where Ikea Guadalajara Expo is located, has shown the country’s strongest e-commerce growth. The store will officially open to the public on Nov. 14.
