Liverpool Expands Express Format, Strengthening Key Locations
Liverpool, a leading Mexican department store chain, is expanding its Liverpool Express format to establish a stronger presence in 16 states nationwide. The retailer is prioritizing smaller, strategically located spaces in city centers and shopping malls to cater to growing consumer demand.
Liverpool Express offers a curated selection of fashion, electronics, home goods, and digital services, including home delivery and Click&Collect. These stores, ranging from 100 to 300 square meters, are designed to serve medium and small cities.
Ricardo Butrón, Liverpool’s Expansion Manager, stated that the company is targeting commercial spaces in states such as Mexico City, the State of Mexico, Puebla, Jalisco, Michoacan, Sinaloa, Oaxaca, Veracruz, Nuevo Leon, Guanajuato, Tamaulipas, Chihuahua, and Nayarit, among others.
Each Liverpool Express store represents an investment of between MX$3 million and MX$4.7 million, depending on its size and location.
Since its launch, the Liverpool Express format has grown to 35 locations, spanning a combined retail area of 5,150 m². The company has ramped up its expansion efforts, doubling the number of stores and increasing retail space by 61% compared to 2023.
From January to September 2024, Liverpool opened 18 new stores in cities such as Jojutla (Morelos), Piedras Negras (Coahuila), Ciudad Guzman (Jalisco), and Guasave (Sinaloa).
