Mercado Libre Sets Record El Buen Fin Sales on Early Deals
Mercado Libre reported record sales volumes during El Buen Fin, driven by promotional offers, early deals and additional discount coupons. Monday, Nov. 17, marked the peak sales day, with more than 3,000 purchases per minute.
Tania Ramos, Director of Strategic Planning, Mercado Libre México, said El Buen Fin is one of the company’s most intense sales periods, noting that sales nearly double compared with a typical day. The states generating the highest sales were Mexico City, the State of Mexico, Jalisco, Nuevo León and Veracruz. The company delivered half of all orders in less than 24 hours.
As expected, the top-selling categories were technology, fashion and home goods.
Mercado Pago Drives Digital Financing
Mercado Pago expanded credit lines and interest-free installment options, solidifying its position as a preferred payment method. Twelve-month, interest-free installments were the most frequently used option among consumers.
Mercado Libre said its performance and market leadership were supported by accessible financial solutions through Mercado Pago; an efficient logistics network with 14 distribution centers; fast deliveries, including sub-24-hour delivery in 28 cities and same-day delivery in select zones; and a wide assortment of discounted products.
In March, Mercado Libre announced a US$3.4 billion investment—its largest commitment to Mexico to date.
The new 2025 capital plan represents a 38% increase over the US$2.5 billion investment announced for 2024. David Geisen, General Director, Mercado Libre México, said, “We have decided to prioritize Mexico; the investment we are going to execute adds to and reflects the US$10 billion in commitments we have made in the country in recent years.” He added that the project is expected to help stabilize the ecosystem amid commercial tensions and tariff uncertainty between Mexico and the United States.
