ANUEE Protests in CDMX, Demands Fair Rates, Debt Relief

The National Assembly of Electric Energy Users (ANUEE) continues its protests in Mexico City, calling for better electric service and more equitable pricing for consumers.

On Friday, protesters blocked access to the National Energy Commission after marching through several parts of the city. Demonstrations resumed Monday with a march from the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) to the National Palace. The group plans to remain there until Wednesday, demanding a meeting with President Claudia Sheinbaum to push for action on their key demands.

ANUEE is calling for the renationalization of the electricity sector, the creation of a fair social electricity tariff, cancellation of outstanding electricity debts, and the formal recognition of electricity as a human right.

In statements shared through its social media channels, ANUEE announced plans to hold monthly demonstrations on the 11th of each month until their demands are addressed.
