The CFE has entered a new phase of internal consolidation under the leadership of Director General Emilia Calleja, with a renewed focus on energy generation, security, and social responsibility, according to Francisco Javier Maldonado, Deputy Director of Generation.

Speaking at the presentation of the Strategic Direction of the Generation Subdirectorate, Maldonado said CFE has reunified its generation operations after years of fragmentation and is strengthening a workforce committed to “energy justice, security, sufficiency and well-being, with a vision for the present and future.” He urged his team to make the subdirectorate a reference point within the utility and ensure this administration “goes down in history as the best.”

“There is nothing more urgent than security,” he said, stressing the importance of training and continuous development as the backbone of CFE’s generation strategy.

The strategic direction plan, outlines a continuous process for assessing, planning, and improving generation operations. It rests on five core elements aimed at consolidating a portfolio that ensures reliability, sufficiency, cost efficiency, and energy transition, guided by values of productivity, integrity, teamwork, and environmental responsibility.

The National Coordinations of Hydroelectric Generation, led by José Miguel Mota, and Thermoelectric and Intermittent Energy Generation, coordinated by Jaime Trujillo, detailed ongoing analyses to boost plant reliability. Meanwhile, new working groups within the Electrical Engineering Division will focus on operations, maintenance, and wholesale electricity market performance.

CFE also introduced the Initial Risk Prevention Analysis (AIPR) mechanism and pilot programs for the Electronic License Log System (SIBEL) in 13 plants, designed to optimize safety and internal licensing procedures across its generation assets.
