CFE Works to Restore Power After Storm Damage in Chiapas
CFE reported the collapse of a high-voltage transmission tower in López Hernández, a community in the municipality of Venustiano Carranza, Chiapas, after heavy rainfall and strong winds caused the Blanco River to overflow. The event occurred in the late afternoon on Monday and left several municipalities in the region temporarily without power.
In response, CFE activated its contingency plan and deployed immediate repair maneuvers across the medium-voltage network, restoring service to 14.5% of affected users in Comitan, Las Margaritas, and La Trinitaria within just 23 minutes. The company said restoration efforts will continue uninterrupted until full service is reestablished.
Under the direction of CFE Director General Emilia Calleja, 119 electrical workers are on site, supported by 11 cranes, 25 vehicles, two all-terrain units, six lighting towers, and 14 emergency power plants. These plants are being installed to supply critical community services such as clinics, gas stations, water pumping systems, and communication towers.
CFE emphasized that it remains in full coordination with state and municipal governments to minimize disruption and ensure public safety as severe weather continues to affect the region.
