CONUEE, SEMAR Renew Efforts to Advance Energy Efficiency Goals
On Aug. 27, 2025, officials from Mexico’s National Commission for the Efficient Use of Energy (CONUEE) visited the Ministry of the Navy (SEMAR) to provide technical guidance on the update and maintenance of the Federal Public Administration (APF) Program.
The working session covered a range of issues, including energy efficiency best practices, the registration of new buildings following the recent identification of one that qualifies for the program, and the deregistration of facilities no longer meeting its criteria or falling under exceptions outlined in the APF 2025 provisions. Practical recommendations for implementing electricity generation at Navy installations were also discussed.
SEMAR shared operational experiences, such as the oversizing of equipment, the impact of high patient volumes at the Naval Medical Center on energy consumption, and the institution’s willingness to replace outdated systems with more efficient alternatives. CONUEE emphasized the importance of cost-benefit analysis, proper equipment selection, and compliance with national efficiency standards and APF guidelines.
