EPM Eólica 24 Advances MX$2.63 Billion Wind Project in Tamaulipas
EPM Eólica 24 is moving forward with the development of a new wind power project in Mier, Tamaulipas, near the US border, after receiving positive feedback from the National Center for Energy Control (CENACE). The initiative, named Central Eólica 24 Wind, represents an investment of more than MX$2.63 billion and aims to strengthen clean electricity generation in the state.
The project will be built on the “Las Peñitas” and “Corral de Barracas” plots along Kilometer 144 of the Carretera General Treviño, roughly 10.7km southwest of Mier’s municipal seat. It will feature 25 wind turbines across nearly 58ha, with an estimated capacity of 105MW. The company has already submitted its environmental impact assessment to the SEMARNAT and is awaiting approval.
Last week, Tamaulipas’ Deputy Minister for Electricity and Renewable Energy, Roberto Rendón, and the Director of the Electric Industry, Luis Esteban Igartua, met with CENACE Planning Deputy Manager Ramón Huereca in Monterrey to review the project’s progress. Authorities highlighted the importance of orderly development that benefits local communities while advancing the state’s renewable energy agenda.
“The results of this meeting were positive, highlighting SEDENER’s support for companies seeking to establish electricity projects in Tamaulipas, which are expected to have a significant impact in creating a hub of jobs and opportunities for the people of Tamaulipas,” read the Tamaulipas Ministry of Energy Development post about the meeting on Instagram.
