Mexico Maintains Legal Action Against Iberdrola
Mexico will continue its legal action against Iberdrola, which is being accused of illegal energy sales, despite the disbandment of the CRE that originally imposed the penalty. President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed that the litigation process against Iberdrola will proceed as planned.
Salamanca Combined Cycle Plant Begins Commercial Operation
The Salamanca Combined Cycle Power Plant in Guanajuato entered commercial operation on Feb. 14, 2025, with an installed capacity of 927.1MW. The facility, operated by CFE, is expected to provide electricity to over 5 million people, covering about 541,000 households.

Tetra Pak announced the installation of 1,000 solar panels at its plant in Queretaro, as part of its sustainability and decarbonization efforts. The investment of MX$11 million (US$543,000) is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by 400t annually, significantly lowering the plant’s environmental impact.
