BayWa r.e., a global renewable energy company with a presence in 29 countries around the world, celebrated its 10th anniversary in Mexico in 2022. Within this time, it has positioned itself as a leading wholesale distributor of photovoltaic solar products, as it accounts for more than 500MW of installed power in different industries, including automotive, food, consumer goods and retail. The company highlighted that solar is the optimal solution for companies looking for clean, affordable and efficient energy.

Despite changes in energy legislation, Mexico has made important steps toward its energy transition by allowing companies to invest in photovoltaic solar systems and generate their own energy to use within their facilities if these systems do not exceed the 0.5MW threshold.

BayWa helps Mexican companies define an energy-saving strategy through the installation of photovoltaic solar systems. To do so, it first reviews its client and the benefits of implementing an energy-saving project through a photovoltaic solar system. Second, the company conducts a feasibility analysis including project structure, component quality, certifications and warranties. Thirdly, BayWa delivers a technical proposal of the project together with authorized installers. Following this, it creates a link with financial institutions that can provide avenues for financing. Finally, Baywa provides comprehensive advice to solve technical questions regarding accounting, project execution, savings and warranty.

According to BayWa, implementing a solar energy project benefits companies economically, via savings in energy consumption costs, environmentally, by reducing the carbon footprint, and in terms of innovation, since the adoption of new technologies contributes to energy independence.

BayWa recently formed alliances with leading manufacturers in the photovoltaic solar industry such as Huawei Fusion Solar. “We are aware of the considerable investment involved in the installation of photovoltaic systems, so it is essential to ensure that each of our commercial partners works with high-quality products. Huawei Fusion Solar inverters offer the required level of service to ensure that photovoltaic systems generate the projected Kw to achieve the expected savings over time,” said Andres González, General Director, BayWa r.e. Mexico.

Globally, from January to September 2022, BayWa r.e. reported revenues of €4.5 billion (US$4.3 billion) because of the sale of wind and solar farms that accounted for a total output of 423MW.
