Solarever announced an investment of US$1 billion to develop an industrial park in Jalisco dedicated to developing modules, solar cells, batteries, aluminum and glass, among other elements needed to produce solar panels. The industrial development will have a total area of 10ha, located in Zacoalco de Torres, an hour’s drive from Guadalajara.

Furthermore, the Chinese company stated that in five years, the park will be expanded to start the production and assembly of electric vehicles (EV).

The park will be built sustainably, featuring a solar panel installation of nearly 0.5 MW that will generate enough electricity to meet the company’s renewable energy needs.

Simon Zhao, President, Solarever, said that this type of investment in technology is fundamental for the development of the country. "Jalisco has great potential in the industrial, technological and labor sectors, and so far, it has had impressive growth in these areas. Therefore, all we want is to continue contributing to the promotion of clean energy," he said.

Enrique Alfaro, the Governor of Jalisco, pointed out that Solarever is an international leader in the production of solar panels and solar cells, and is currently venturing into other markets, particularly in the production of EV batteries. Moreover, he said that Solarever’s investment in Jalisco will generate 3,000 direct jobs. “Making a whole production system for photocells, solar panels and batteries to then proceed with the assembly of electric cars represents a great opportunity for our state in order to transform the electronic manufacturing industry. Jalisco will become a hub of technology and innovation," said Alfaro.

During 1H22, Jalisco caught US$1.90 billion of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), which represented a growth of 117 percent compared to the same period in 2021. These numbers placed the state third in Mexico regarding the highest growth in FDI, only behind Mexico City and Nuevo Leon.

Until this announcement, China did not stand out among the main investors in Jalisco. From January to July 2022, the US, followed by the UK and Canada, were the countries with the most capital invested in the state.

Solarever was founded in 2012 and is a leading player in the development, manufacturing and distribution of solar panels with a marketing presence in Latin America, the US and Canada. In addition, it has research and technological development centers in China and the US.
