UNIRAC's Strategic Growth in Mexico: Innovations, Solar Solutions
STORY INLINE POST
Q: How has UNIRAC grown its presence in the Mexican market and what strategies have you implemented to remain the partner of choice for your clients?
A: We have expanded our presence through our product offering, strategic partnerships, and tailored regional strategies. We recognize that each region in Mexico has specific preferences and needs, which require us to adapt our approach accordingly. Additionally, we have strengthened our team by incorporating new regional managers who ensure continued, personalized support for each area. This approach has solidified our position as a preferred partner for our clients, and it enables us to meet market demand while consistently providing high-quality products, which is a hallmark of our company.
Q: What are the latest innovations UNIRAC has added to its catalogue, and which products have gained the most popularity in recent years?
A: Recently, we introduced new systems in our catalogue, such as Ascender, which offers great flexibility and compatibility with various types of installations. We are also in the process of launching new products designed to address water filtration issues. By identifying these emerging needs, we ensure our systems effectively meet them.
Q: How has the professionalization of installers evolved over the past few years?
A: It has advanced significantly, driven by growing market demand. Installers are increasingly seeking certifications and advanced training to ensure their work complies with Mexican regulations and international standards. This commitment to quality and professionalism is highly valued by clients, as it contributes to the durability and efficiency of the systems being installed.
Supporting the professionalization of installers is one of our key priorities. This year, we are enhancing our installer certification program, offering in-depth training on our products and the opportunity to attend hands-on workshops. Additionally, we are leveraging digital platforms, which allow installers to access training modules directly from their mobile devices. We also provide free tools such as our U-Builder platform, which we continuously update to offer 360-degree support. Through these efforts, we help installers gain proficiency with our products and earn certifications that align with industry standards.
Q: What do batteries mean for the future of solar projects and how is UNIRAC preparing for the integration of battery storage in solar racking systems?
A: With new federal policies regarding self-consumption, batteries will undoubtedly play a more significant role in solar projects. To respond to this demand, we offer products that align with large-scale projects and meet specific connection requirements, ensuring compatibility with battery systems. For example, certifications like UL3741, related to MLPE, are a key benefit for installers. Although our racking systems do not directly integrate with batteries, we are preparing to offer certifications that ensure compatibility with storage solutions, focusing on aspects such reducing the number of DC to DC connections.
Q: In which region of Mexico do you have the most active operations, and where do you identify potential for further solar solutions deployment, particularly in relation to the Plan México project?
A: Plan México, which aims to increase distributed generation capacity, has created significant opportunities. Although there is still room for expansion, this initiative has provided investors with the certainty needed to continue developing such projects. At UNIRAC, we are capitalizing on this momentum by offering one of the most robust portfolios in the market. We see great opportunities in solar farms, both ground-mounted and rooftop installations. The nearshoring trend is also driving demand, with international clients seeking specific solutions and products of the highest quality. As a result, we are preparing products designed to meet these specific needs, which differ from those of residential applications.
Q: How would you assess the Mexican solar consumer in terms of education and knowledge about quality mounting infrastructure?
A: The Mexican consumer is undoubtedly better informed about photovoltaic solar energy than before. There is greater awareness that solar energy not only represents significant savings in energy costs but also provides other long-term benefits. However, there is still room for further education on quality mounting infrastructure. While awareness has grown, it remains essential for companies like ours to address gaps and misconceptions regarding certified, laboratory-tested products that cater to specific needs.
Q: What is the science behind mounting infrastructure and how does the company address these challenges?
A: The development of mounting systems is based on advanced science, particularly metallurgy, which has one of the longest histories in human progress. Contrary to the simple perception of metal as just a material, the industry involves deep expertise in selecting the right alloys for each specific product and understanding their behavior under various conditions.
At UNIRAC, we understand the structural capacities of our products, the specific installation requirements, and the challenges each installation may face. For example, we ensure that our systems can withstand specific wind loads, water density, and stress from environmental factors. This is especially important when installing on rooftops or on multi-story buildings, where wind forces act differently than on ground-mounted systems.
Q: What are UNIRAC's strategic priorities and growth objectives for its operations in Mexico in 2025?
A: Our strategic priorities for 2025 include doubling our market share, strengthening relationships with distributors, and expanding our presence in high-growth areas. Additionally, we are focused on improving our training programs, launching new products, and consolidating our leadership in the market. This includes further enhancing our product offerings and improving our reputation through the excellence of our products and superior customer support to ensure the successful development of our clients' projects. We aim to continue growing alongside our customers, with a clear commitment to Mexico. We are investing more, increasing production locally, and continuing to strengthen our position in the market, setting the foundation for sustained growth in the years ahead.
