VEMO, a leading electric vehicle manufacturer, announced sustainability progress in its latest report, showcasing its commitment to sustainable mobility. The company revealed that it prevented the emission of more than 2,400mt of CO2 equivalent during 2022.

According to VEMO's report, this was possible thanks to the utilization of their fully electric vehicle fleet, which covered a distance of 13 million km. By eliminating traditional internal combustion engines, VEMO's electric cars contributed to reducing harmful emissions and combating climate change.

VEMO reported on its commitment to transparency and corporate responsibility with the adoption of international best practices for reporting on various economic, environmental and social impacts. The company employs common metrics and reporting standards outlined by the World Economic Forum (WEF) in its sustainable value creation reports.

VEMO also highlights its comprehensive program of policies, processes and controls established to proactively address and monitor business risks. By implementing robust measures, the company ensures the highest levels of operational efficiency and risk mitigation.

The company shared that it envisions a future where urban mobility is not only environmentally friendly but also accessible and affordable for all. Their compact electric cars are designed specifically for urban environments.

As the global automotive industry moves towards sustainable solutions, VEMO is recognized as a leading brand in electromobility. However, despite the positive efforts of various stakeholders, there is still a significant journey ahead towards achieving a complete energy transition. One area of ongoing debate is the measurement of scope 4 emissions, as limited data and standardization pose challenges in accurately assessing and quantifying these emissions.

Furthermore, according to Yolanda Villegas, Director, Legal, Compliance and Institutional Relations, VEMO, “the government, civil society and the private sector must collaborate to establish policies and measures that encourage investment in renewable energies and energy efficiency.”

Mirova, Robeco to Tackle Scope 4 Emissions

Mirova, Robeco, and 11 other asset management firms joined forces to establish a comprehensive global emissions database. This collaborative effort aims to address the lack of reliable data on Scope 4 emissions, which are often overlooked and inconsistently defined.
