Wasion Energy is operating a new electrical transformer manufacturing facility in Irapuato, representing a US$7.3 million investment, says Governor of Guanajuato Libia García. The plant will create 250 direct jobs, 150 for men and 100 for women.

During the plant’s inauguration last week, García highlighted that producing these components domestically will help lower costs, shorten delivery times, and reduce technological dependence, while also strengthening the responsiveness of Mexico’s electric system.

“The opening of this new world-class plant in our state, beyond being a clear and strong vote of confidence in Guanajuato, is a powerful boost to Mexico’s electric industry,” says García.

The company is committed to fostering technological exchange between China and Mexico and supporting local talent through training programs, says Xijun Feng, President, Wasion Energy. “We will generate about 1,000 quality jobs for the local community and train local technical talent to strengthen service capabilities,” Feng said.

The facility will deliver 1 million electric meters to the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE). Wasion Energy already plays a dominant role in Mexico’s grid infrastructure, with nine out of ten electric meters installed nationwide are produced by the company, which manufactures 8 million transformers locally.

Wasion Energy also announced a US$4.5 million expansion of its facility in the Puerto Interior de Silao, expected to generate an additional 250 jobs.
