Mexico's military development bank, Banjercito, has awarded a MX$44.83 million (US$2.56 million) contract to Aptica Constructora for the construction of 13 branches and administrative offices nationwide. According to the public tender, the contract was formally awarded to the construction firm, with work scheduled to begin on June 15, 2026.

The 13 service points will be built in Mexico City, Guanajuato, Tabasco, Guerrero, Michoacan, Coahuila, Queretaro, Yucatan, Baja California, Chihuahua and Veracruz. All construction will take place on federal land plots under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of the Navy (SEMAR) and the Ministry of National Defense (SEDENA). The tender also allows for additional infrastructure works such as deceleration lanes, speed reducers and road signage, if formally incorporated into the scope of the broader project.

The project will be carried out in separate stages. The initial phase includes topographic surveys of the sites, soil mechanics studies and the development of an executive project. Subsequently, the contractor will process and obtain the relevant permits, licenses and approvals, as well as inspect materials and equipment to be used and assess the environmental impact of all works.

The new branches will each include 20 teller windows, including at least one adapted for persons with disabilities.

Banjercito currently operates 97 branches nationwide. Most are concentrated in the central region, with a total of 24 locations, followed by the southeast and southwest regions, with 18 and 17 service points, respectively.

The institution is part of Mexico’s national development banking system, providing financial services and credit to members of the armed forces. Total assets held by development banking institutions — including Nacional Financiera (Nafin), Bancomext, FIRA, Banobras and the Federal Mortgage Society (SHF) — exceed MX$3.2 trillion (US$182.95 billion), equivalent to 9.3% of Mexico’s GDP.
