BBVA Spark and Aspiria have finalized a financing agreement aimed at strengthening Aspiria’s lending capacity and expanding its nationwide operations. The capital injection is expected to significantly increase the fintech’s ability to extend credit to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across Mexico.
Technology-Driven Financing and Reach
Aspiria operates a business model that leverages technology and advanced analytics to accelerate access to financing for SMEs, a segment often underserved by traditional banks. Through a fully digital platform, the company conducts risk assessments and information validation, enabling it to approve and disburse loans within days.
A key differentiator for Aspiria is its reach into businesses that have historically lacked access to financial services. Nearly 80% of its clients had been unable to obtain bank financing prior to working with the company. With a team of 125 specialists, Aspiria acts as a bridge between these enterprises and the capital needed to scale operations, indirectly supporting job creation and economic activity.
Beyond general financing, Aspiria has also positioned itself as an early mover in solar financing for businesses in Mexico, promoting electrification through specialized schemes for the acquisition of solar panels.
Strategic Expansion and Shared Mission
The resources provided by BBVA Spark will be used to expand Aspiria’s SME financing portfolio, strengthen its presence in key Mexican states and develop new financial solutions tailored to evolving market needs.
“Both BBVA Spark and Aspiria share the same mission: to support the Mexican entrepreneur through financial innovation,” said Guillermo Hernández, CEO, Aspiria. “This investment marks a new stage for us, as we deploy thousands of financings to strengthen and empower Mexican businesses.”
Rodrigo Velasco, country manager for Mexico and LatAm head, BBVA Spark, said the transaction reinforces the bank’s strategy of supporting the entrepreneurial ecosystem. He emphasized the importance of backing companies like Aspiria that are transforming how SMEs access credit and contributing to a more dynamic, inclusive ecosystem with broader access to capital.
