DEUNA and PayPal have expanded their global strategic partnership to provide enterprise merchants with single-API access to PayPal's complete payment ecosystem, including PayPal Wallet, Venmo, and Buy Now Pay Later. This unified orchestration addresses e-commerce checkout fragmentation and cart abandonment, which currently eliminate US$260 billion in annual merchant revenue across major markets. The development directly impacts global enterprise retailers, travel platforms, subscription services, and payment processors by streamlining cross-border transactions and reducing engineering overhead.

DEUNA, the agentic payments intelligence platform for enterprise commerce, announced the global expansion of its strategic alliance with PayPal, granting enterprise merchants worldwide one-click access to the full PayPal ecosystem through a single application programming interface (API) integration. The collaboration integrates PayPal's complete portfolio of commercial products — including PayPal Wallet, Venmo, and PayPal Pay Later (BNPL) — into DEUNA's unified payment infrastructure across all international markets where DEUNA operates.

"Our partnership with PayPal is built on a shared commitment to help merchants innovate faster and deliver exceptional customer experiences," said Jose Torres, Chief Strategy Officer, DEUNA. "By combining PayPal's global technology leadership with DEUNA's expertise in enterprise commerce and its track record supporting some of the region's most sophisticated merchants, we are helping companies accelerate the adoption of innovation, unlock more value from every payment interaction, and stay ahead in an increasingly dynamic payment landscape."

"Latin America is home to some of the world's most innovative and ambitious digital commerce businesses," said Juan Bordes, Vice President and General Manager, Latin America, PayPal. "What began as a strong partnership to support regional merchants has evolved into a global collaboration designed to help companies scale beyond their local markets. By bringing PayPal's complete ecosystem to merchants through DEUNA's unified platform, we are making it easier for businesses to access trusted payment experiences, accelerate their expansion into new geographies, and adopt innovations with less complexity."

Addressing Checkout Friction and Payment Fragmentation

The expanded alliance addresses severe structural inefficiencies in global e-commerce checkout environments, where fragmented payment architectures lead to significant transaction drop-offs. According to research from the Baymard Institute, one in five online shoppers abandons their purchase because the checkout process is too long or complicated. Industry analysts estimate that poor checkout design eliminates US$260 billion in annual e-commerce revenues across the United States and the European Union alone. For large enterprise merchants operating across multiple international jurisdictions, managing separate payment integrations in each market exacerbates technical complexity, increases maintenance overhead, and elevates cart abandonment rates.

Building upon prior collaborative work centered on Express Checkout and PayPal Vaulting, the unified API deployment provides enterprise merchants with immediate access to PayPal's global consumer reach. The portfolio integration encompasses PayPal Wallet, which connects merchants to 439 million active accounts across approximately 200 markets worldwide. It also incorporates Venmo, the social payment network in the United States with over 90 million active users and strong penetration among Millennial and Generation Z demographics. Additionally, the partnership includes PayPal Pay Later, a buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) solution that generated more than US$40 billion in Total Payment Volume in 2025 across 60 million global users, 96% of whom are repeat users.

From an operational standpoint, the single-API model eliminates the requirement for enterprise IT and engineering teams to build, maintain, and continuously update separate software connections for individual payment products. By deploying a single implementation, enterprise merchants establish a single source of truth and activate PayPal's entire product suite across multiple geographic markets, reducing engineering workload and accelerating time-to-market for new payment functionalities. The architecture is engineered specifically for high-volume enterprise segments, including global retailers, quick-service restaurant chains, travel and ticketing platforms, subscription services, and consumer brands.

Mexico and Latin America serve as crucial hubs for digital payment innovation, with Mexican users averaging approximately 58 transactions per active client annually on PayPal's platform. The region's rapid digital evolution has driven demand for cross-border payment gateways that enable local enterprises to expand internationally while offering seamless localized checkout options, such as interest-free installments and direct card processing.
