Dräger’s Atlan A350 Series Gains US DoD Security Certification
Dräger announced that its Atlan A350 and A350 XL anesthesia workstations have received Authority to Operate (ATO) certification under the US Department of Defense’s Risk Management Framework (RMF) eMASS #4060, meeting the highest cybersecurity standard for medical devices.
“Cyberattacks continue to be a serious threat to hospitals, both clinically and financially,” says Lothar Thielen, President and CEO, Draeger. “To help hospitals meet this challenge, Dräger embeds the latest cybersecurity technology deeply into our development processes. Our new Atlan anesthesia workstations now carry ATO certification, which is the highest level of security a medical device can hold.”
The certification process evaluates compliance with rigorous federal security requirements designed to protect sensitive patient data and ensure operational integrity in healthcare settings. With this designation, Dräger now has its entire anesthesia machine portfolio, including the previously certified Perseus A500 and Fabius MRI systems, approved under the same cybersecurity framework.
The Atlan A350/A350 XL series is designed for use across operating rooms with a platform adaptable to various spatial conditions and equipped with either mechanical or electronic gas mixer technology. The systems feature scalable clinical capabilities and advanced ventilation quality to support complex surgical procedures and patients with challenging respiratory needs.
ATO-certified medical devices offer hospitals benefits such as enhanced security, compliance with federal standards, interoperability with other systems, and faster integration with electronic medical records. They also undergo continuous monitoring to address emerging cybersecurity threats.
“In the healthcare sector, which is already lagging behind other industries in terms of cybersecurity, an interruption of operations can be a matter of life or death,” says Dräger.
