The global functional gummies market is projected to grow from US$1.52 billion in 2024 to US$2.49 billion by 2030, according to Valuates Reports. This growth, driven by a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.6%, reflects shifting consumer preferences toward preventive health, plant-based diets, and convenient supplementation formats.

Consumers are increasingly choosing functional gummies that address specific health needs like skin, sleep, and gut health, driven by rising wellness awareness. Functional gummies offer an alternative to traditional pills and capsules, providing nutrients such as vitamins, probiotics, and omega-3s in a more palatable form, according to Valuates Reports.

“We are in the vitamin and supplements ecosystem and our customers want different delivery methods. They do not want tablets all the time,” says Jim Brown, President, USANA, to MBN.

The growing demand for clean-label, easy-to-consume supplements is fostering innovation in ingredients and formulations. Companies are developing products that meet the needs of diverse consumers, including children, seniors, and individuals following vegan or vegetarian diets.

Vegan gummies, in particular, are gaining traction. These products use pectin or agar-agar instead of animal-derived gelatin, making them suitable for a wider range of dietary needs. In Mexico, 2% of the population identifies as vegan, according to Statista. As ethically driven purchasing grows among younger generations, retailers are expanding shelf space for plant-based options. Despite this trend, gelatin-based gummies still dominate the market, representing 79% of total sales.

Vitamin and probiotic gummies remain core product categories. Vitamin gummies appeal to users seeking daily nutrition without the discomfort of pills, while probiotic gummies support digestive health and align with growing interest in holistic wellness. Their portability and non-refrigerated formats also suit on-the-go lifestyles, increasing usage across demographics.

Preventive health trends are reinforcing market momentum. As consumers seek to avoid chronic conditions, some are integrating functional gummies into daily routines for immune support, stress relief, and sleep enhancement.

“Technology is progressing rapidly, making these supplements more accessible. When combined with exercise and good sleep, people will begin to feel and look better,” says Arturo Galván, Director General, V&L Corp, to MBN.

Globally, Latin America accounts for 7% of total dietary supplement consumption. Within this region, Mexico holds the position of the second-largest consumer, representing 24% of the market share, reports the National Association of the Dietary Supplements Industry (ANAISA).

“Consumers are increasingly motivated to change their habits and adopt healthier lifestyles. This shift is driven by the fact that 60% of Mexicans consume junk food and the country has one of the highest per capita rates of sugary drink consumption,” says Karem Sánchez, President, ANAISA, to MBN.
