The Impact of the Pandemic on Diabetic Patients

Diabetes is one of the biggest health challenges facing Mexico and the pandemic exacerbated the situation as many of these patients dropped out of treatment, said Héctor Valle, President of FunSalud on Day 1 of Mexico Health Summit. “There are only 893 endocrinologists in the entire country. We are talking about a country where between 12 and 14 percent of the population has diabetes,” Valle noted. During his presentation, the expert also expressed his belief that the pandemic could be a turning point for diabetes investment and treatment.
