The Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS) has advanced medical infrastructure in Nayarit, with five priority projects completed and one more underway. These developments aim to enhance healthcare services for 1.3 million people in the state, according to Zoé Robledo, Director General, IMSS.

During this administration, Nayarit has seen an investment of MX$6.8 billion (US$361 million) in healthcare services. The investments have supported projects benefiting  IMSS, IMSS-Bienestar, and the Institute of Social Security and Services for State Workers (ISSSTE), as reported by IMSS.

Among the completed projects is the 150-bed General Hospital of Bahía de Banderas, initially built to address the COVID-19 pandemic. This facility, funded with MX$1.892 billion, now serves a broader range of healthcare needs in the region.

Additionally, a new hemodynamics unit was established at the General Hospital of Tepic. The project, part of a broader service exchange initiative to benefit both IMSS beneficiaries and those without social security, was completed with an investment of MX$39.7 million.

Also, as part of the IMSS-Bienestar healthcare system, the Women’s Hospital of Tepic, which had been left unfinished since 2014, was completed and began operations in 2021. The ISSSTE also contributed to the state’s healthcare improvements with the completion of the Aquiles Calles Ramírez General Hospital in Tepic.

Ongoing efforts include the replacement of the Civil Hospital of Tepic, originally built in 1954 and deemed urgently in need of renewal. The new hospital is under construction, having started in September 2023.

"In Nayarit, we have grown and strengthened @Tu_IMSS and @IMSS_BIENESTAR, and we will continue doing so to bring health to the people of Mexico," writes Robledo on X.

Robledo will continue in his role under Claudia Sheinbaum’s administration, having been reappointed by her. Robledo also leads the IMSS-Bienestar program and serves as the Chairman of its Governing Board.
