The National Homeopathic Hospital (HNH) will inaugurate the Wounds and Stomas clinic and the Infusion Therapy clinic as part of its 129th anniversary. These services will be available to the public starting on July 26, 2022. The clinics aim to expand ambulatory health services for those that do not have social security.

The HNH “is the only health institution that has been able to combine homeopathic and conventional medicine to benefit the Mexican population during the 129 years that the institution has been functioning,” said Diana Palami, Director, HNH.

The Wounds and Stomas clinic will treat any kind of stoma and health problems related to diabetic feet and pleasure ulcers, among others. The Therapy Infusion clinic will monitor the catheters of hospitalized patients. Currently, the HNH has an emergency area, 27 outpatient clinics, 136 beds, 21 incubators, three operating rooms, two toco-surgical rooms, five post-surgical recovery rooms and a homeopathic pharmacy.

The services available at the HNH have allowed it to give quality medical attention to the population with complex health problems. In 2021, the hospital provided care to over 18,000 patients who came from different states and countries, reporting improvement on over 96 percent of the patients that used its emergency services.

Aside from these clinics, the HNH will hold a Virtual Homeopathic Conservatory that will address relevant topics of the field such as the role of research and training of human resources in the field. Currently, homeopathic medicine is practiced in about 90 countries. In Latin America, the HNH is the only hospital that prescribes this medicine, sometimes combined with allopathy, by qualified doctors, as reported by the Ministry of Health (SSA)

Homeopathy is part of traditional, complementary and integrative medicine (T&CM). In Mexico, T&CM operates under a legal framework, with the Health General Law stating that it is the responsibility of the state to promote and guarantee the respectful use and practices of traditional medicine. Likewise, the Ministry of Health Internal Regulation forces the General Direction of Health’s Planning and Development (DGPLADES) to address the integration of traditional medicine in the health system to promote cultural plurality in health assistance. The country’s Regulation on Health Supplies determines the definition, registration, manufacturing and distribution of allopathic, homeopathic and herbal remedies.

By including homeopathy in the national health services, the SSA expanded its service offer and health coverage. Homeopathy is reportedly easy and has a low-cost.
