Samsung Electronics has signed an agreement to acquire Xealth, a digital health integration platform, to strengthen its connected care capabilities and expand its role in digital healthcare. The acquisition, expected to close in 2025 pending regulatory approvals, aims to bring together Samsung’s wearable technology with Xealth’s digital health tools to bridge gaps between home monitoring and clinical decision-making.
Wearables like rings and watches gather user data, creating opportunities for developers to launch tools and solutions that enhance healthcare or prevention, reports MBN. However, health information collected by consumer wearables often remains separate from clinical data, creating delays in care and limiting physicians’ access to real-time insights..
By integrating Xealth’s technology, Samsung intends to improve the way health systems manage and utilize patient data while centering the provider-patient relationship. The deal is part of Samsung’s strategy to unify health data and support preventive care through a seamless connection between wellness tracking and medical records. “Data can move the industry’s efforts toward preventive care to reverse escalating healthcare costs and poor health outcomes,” says Francisco Martínez, Head of Digital Health, Automation, and AI, Siemens Healthineers Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean.
Samsung has steadily expanded its healthcare ambitions by investing in wearable sensor technologies and integrating its portfolio of consumer devices into a broader health ecosystem. For example, Samsung Electronics recently expanded the capabilities of its Galaxy Ring, a wearable focused on improving overall wellness with an emphasis on sleep. Additionally, the company updated its Health platform to enhance user health management by enabling access to health records, medication tracking, and daily food intake monitoring.
Through this acquisition, the company aims to deliver more personalized and proactive care, supporting digital health providers in managing patient wellness both in and outside the clinical setting.
According to TM Roh, President and Interim, Samsung’s Device eXperience Division, the acquisition will serve as a key pillar in advancing the company’s vision for connected care. “Combining Samsung’s platform with Xealth’s healthcare network will support digital health partners and healthcare systems through a more connected care model,” says Roh.
With this integration, Samsung expects to offer a more comprehensive health platform, enabling providers to better engage with patients, monitor conditions remotely, and deliver preventive care more effectively across its global ecosystem.
