Q: How is Dentalia transforming dental healthcare in Mexico, and what have been its main contributions to the field?
A: Dentalia was founded 20 years ago by Federico Weber with the objective of transforming access to dental care in Mexico. At its inception, the company focused on a clinical care model built around physical dental clinics. The central question was how to deliver dental services that were both accessible and convenient while maintaining high quality standards. From the beginning, clinics were located in shopping centers, operated nearly year-round, and were designed to be financially accessible to a broad segment of the population.

This model responded to significant structural challenges in Mexico. Culturally, the country has a limited preventive health mindset, and dental care utilization is particularly low. Dental visits among the Mexican population are among the least frequent in Latin America, with many individuals visiting a dentist only once every 8 to 10 years. Even among more engaged segments of the population, visits often occur only once every five years, far below the clinical recommendation of at least one annual visit, with two per year being optimal.

At the same time, Mexico faces a shortage of dental professionals relative to its population. The density of dentists per 10,000 inhabitants is among the lowest in the region. With roughly 120,000 dentists nationwide, access to timely and preventive care remains a systemic challenge.

Dentalia was created with these structural gaps in mind. Over time, the company evolved from a clinic-centered model into an integrated dental services platform that partners with multiple organizations such as insurance companies, brokers, and companies through corporate dental plans, designed to address prevention, continuity of care, and system-wide accessibility in a structurally underserved market.

Q: How does Dentalia create value for companies through its corporate dental plan model?
A: A core component of Dentalia’s integrated model is the provision of dental plans for employers, insurers, and assistance providers, built around what we define as “tangible benefits.” Unlike many traditional insurance products that are rarely used, our dental plans are designed to actively drive high utilization, particularly in preventive care. Our objective is to ensure that dental plan beneficiaries attend regular check-ups, receive timely diagnostics, and undergo preventive treatments such as cleanings and basic procedures that preserve long-term oral health.

For companies, this translates into a prevention-driven benefit that employees actually use and value. After life and major medical insurance, dental plans consistently rank among the most appreciated complementary benefits.

By promoting preventive dental care, organizations contribute to employee and insured individuals’ wellbeing, engagement, and productivity. Dentalia administers nearly 1.5 million dental plans directly from insurers and companies and supports several million additional beneficiaries through partnerships with assistance providers.

One of the main challenges in this segment is lack of awareness, as many beneficiaries do not know their policies include dental coverage. To address this, we work closely with companies through health fairs and communication initiatives to encourage high utilization. Among corporate clients, utilization rates reach about 30%, which is high compared to other employee insurance benefits. Corporate renewal rates exceed 98%, reflecting long-term value creation and sustained trust.

Q: How does Dentalia’s clinical care network complement this model and differentiate the patient experience?
A: Dentalia operates about 60 clinics nationwide, supported by a network of over 500 affiliated clinics to ensure geographic coverage, including locations where we do not have a direct presence. Within our own clinics, we focus on delivering a differentiated patient experience built on four main principles:  trust, technology, convenience, and clinical quality.

Transparency is fundamental. One of the main barriers to dental visits is uncertainty around costs, so we provide clear and visible pricing to give patients certainty about what they will pay. Comprehensive diagnosis is another key element of our value proposition. We use advanced technology, including 360° radiography and intraoral scanners, allowing patients to clearly see and understand their oral health condition. This promotes informed decision-making and reinforces trust.

Convenience is equally important. Our clinics operate extended hours, including weekends, and remain open nearly year-round to remove logistical barriers and make it easier for patients to prioritize their oral health. Finally, we ensure that our more than 600 clinicians are trained under standardized protocols and strict quality standards to guarantee consistent clinical excellence and high-quality dental treatments across our entire network.

The integration of corporate plans with clinical care creates a virtuous cycle. Beneficiaries use their plans, access preventive and corrective care, improve their oral health, and return regularly. Employers, in turn, see a healthier and more engaged workforce. This positions Dentalia not merely as a network of clinics, but as a long-term partner in advancing preventive dental health in Mexico.

Q: How can a greater focus on oral health among the Mexican population contribute to improvements in other areas of public health in the country?
A: One of our key priorities is raising awareness that oral health is directly connected to overall health and wellbeing. Extensive clinical evidence links proper oral care with broader health outcomes and well-being. For example, poor occlusion can lead to digestive complications because food is not processed correctly.

Some of the most impactful cases we see involve the early detection of serious diseases during routine dental check-ups, including oral cancer. A patient may come in for a standard cleaning or minor discomfort, and a comprehensive evaluation allows us to identify a much more serious condition at an early, treatable stage. This has a profound impact on individual health, potentially saving lives, while also benefiting the healthcare system, as preventive care is far more effective than treating advanced disease.

Changing habits begins with knowledge. Visiting the dentist should not be a luxury; it is a fundamental part of maintaining overall health and building a preventive culture that helps avoid more serious conditions in the future. The challenge lies in fostering this awareness in a population where regular dental visits are not yet a habit.

Q: How does Dentalia address the growing demand for aesthetic dental treatments within its broader clinical care model?
A: Within our clinical care model, we operate as a comprehensive dental provider. This includes pediatric dentistry, periodontics, orthodontics, and maxillofacial surgery, among others. Our clinics are designed to provide complete dental care for patients of all ages and needs in one place.

This also includes aesthetic treatments. While our approach always begins with a thorough clinical diagnosis, we fully support patients who wish to improve their self-confidence and are interested in cosmetic procedures such as teeth whitening or dental alignment. We work with leading international suppliers and high-quality materials, allowing us to offer treatment plans that integrate both clinical and aesthetic needs.

Q: How does your integration of AI solutions such as Diagnocat enhance diagnostic accuracy and patient care across Dentalia’s clinics?
A: Diagnocat is an AI-powered technology that Dentalia is currently rolling out to enhance the accuracy and clarity of dental diagnoses. The platform analyzes patients’ radiographic images and compares them against millions of cases, enabling the detection of conditions that may be difficult to identify with the human eye alone. Its ability to distinguish subtle variations in imaging supports more precise clinical evaluations.

Diagnocat serves as a complementary diagnostic tool. Dentists conduct their clinical examination and initial assessment, which is then supported by AI analysis. This dual approach increases diagnostic certainty, strengthens patient trust, and helps ensure consistency in clinical quality. It also helps prevent both overdiagnosis and underdiagnosis by providing an additional layer of verification.

Beyond clinical accuracy, the technology improves efficiency and patient experience. It assists clinicians in developing treatment plans more quickly and presents findings in a highly visual and easy-to-understand format, making it a valuable educational tool. Patients can clearly see highlighted areas of concern, which promotes understanding, awareness, and acceptance of treatment recommendations. Finally, Diagnocat integrates with Dentalia’s systems, supporting standardized records, follow-up, and continuity of care, while reinforcing a data-driven and preventive approach to oral health.

Q: What are Dentalia’s priorities and main goals for 2026, and what would make the year a successful one?
A: Dentalia has defined a 2028 strategic roadmap called the “1–2–3 Vision,” which will guide its 2026 efforts. The first pillar centers on consolidation as a fully integrated dental services organization, serving both patients and corporate clients through an exceptional, forward-looking care experience. This means operating as “One Dentalia” culturally and operationally.

The second pillar is growth. The company aims to foster revenue growth by expanding its corporate client base, increasing the number of beneficiaries served, and driving higher patient recurrence. Having treated about 180,000 patients in 2025, Dentalia seeks to significantly increase that figure while ensuring that at least 60% of annual visits come from returning patients. While patient satisfaction remains strong, with a high sector NPS, recurrence is the most meaningful indicator of trust, continuity of care, and preventive behavior.

The third pillar focuses on multiplying impact. Dentalia aims to achieve sustainable improvements in profitability through operational efficiency and the use of technology across the value chain, from appointment scheduling and reporting to training and diagnostics. At the same time, the company seeks to accelerate patients’ progress in their treatment plans and overall oral health outcomes by delivering dental treatments with Mexico’s top clinical talent.

Ultimately, the ambition goes beyond corporate growth. The 1–2–3 Vision reflects the belief that scale, integration, and impact must advance together. By operating as one integrated dental platform and expanding access through prevention and technology, Dentalia aims to help shift oral health in Mexico from episodic treatment toward normalized prevention as a public-health standard, improving quality of life and reducing long-term health burdens at scale.
