AIFA Construction Causes Real Estate Boom in Santa Lucía

The construction of the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) has prompted an increasing housing demand for areas near the project. The National Chamber of the Housing Promotion and Development Industry (CANADEVI) announced that municipalities surrounding Santa Lucía are expected to receive thousands of new residents inthe coming years, and as a result, construction for morethan 70,000 homes is expected to start.

CANADEVI said the municipalities that will benefit the most from their proximity to the airport are Zumpango, Nextlalpan, Xaltenco, Tecamac and Tonanitla, which in addition to housing have begun investmentsin industrial parks and shopping centers.

SEDATU To Invest US$114 Million in Isthmus of Tehuantepec

The Ministry of Agrarian, Land and Urban Development (SEDATU) announced the start of infrastructure works at the Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec (CIIT). Construction requires an investment of MX$2.38 billion (US$114 million), provided by the annual budget of the Urban Improvement Program (PMU). Román Meyer, Head of SEDATU, indicated that the ministry plans to carry out more than 70 infrastructure projects in 20 Oaxaca and Veracruz municipalities.

SICT to Invest US$98.6 Million in Repair Roads

The Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) announced it plans to invest more than MX$2 billion (US$98.26 million) in road repairs. SICT highlighted that although Baja California, Campeche, Chiapas, Durango, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Tabasco and Yucatan have road infrastructure , it is the rural highways that need to be repaired most urgently. 

Phase 1 of the Construction of the CEDA Solar Plant to Begin Soon

Claudia Sheinbaum, Mayor of Mexico City, announced that the Photovoltaic Solar Plant at the  Central de Abasto of Mexico City (CEDA) will begin its first phase of construction in March with the development of the Distributed Generation Systems. The second phase is expected to initiate in May with the installation of a 17-megawatt Photoelectric Plant. Sheinbaum said that if all goes according to plan, the project will be completed by the end of 2022.
