Banco Dondé Launches MOVIMEX to Ease Mexicable Payments
Mexico-based Banco Dondé launched the MOVIMEX debit card, a new financial tool in the State of Mexico that combines access to public transportation with banking services. The card will help Mexicable users move without needing cash.
According to Banco Dondé, MOVIMEX is a Mastercard-backed card linked to a digital account that can be opened in minutes via a mobile app and features no fees or commissions. It is designed to serve the needs of users in the State of Mexico by facilitating direct payment and entry into the state’s cablecar service Mexicable, while also acting as a standard debit card for purchases and savings.
At the launch event, the State of Mexico’s Minister of Mobility, Daniel Sibaja, noted the registration process is quick and simple by signing up on the Banco Dondé app. This initiative targets the most dynamic transit area in Mexico. According to INEGI’s Urban Passenger Transport Statistics (ETUP), during February 2025, the urban transport systems in the Mexico City Metropolitan Area (ZMVM), comprising Mexico City and surrounding State of Mexico municipalities, served 164.9 million passengers, as reported by MBN.
The card's features include automatic entry to the Mexicable system without needing cash and a promotion that provides a free sixth trip for every five trips taken. Cardholders also gain access to banking services, such as free cash deposits and withdrawals at nearly 400 Fundación Dondé branches, while being able to manage their account through the Banco Dondé app. “With this tool from Banco Dondé, we expand payment options for State of Mexico’s people who use our transport network daily, like the Mexicable,” said Eduardo Dondé, Founder and CEO, Banco Dondé.
