Cemex Introduces Electric Mixers to Decarbonize Fleet
Cemex introduced new electric concrete mixer trucks to its operations in Mexico, advancing its global fleet decarbonization efforts. This initiative is a key element of the company’s Future in Action program, which aims to achieve net-zero CO2 emissions by 2050.
The new electric mixers are designed to carry full loads and operate efficiently throughout a full workday, demonstrating the scalability and performance of this sustainable technology. Cemex has already deployed similar trucks in Germany and Dubai, with plans to expand their use to Spain, France, Poland, and the Czech Republic.
In addition to its electric fleet, the company also invested in over 1,000 heavy-duty trucks powered by renewable diesel and natural gas. These transitional technologies will help reduce carbon emissions in the short term, while the availability of electric heavy-duty trucks increases at an industrial scale.
Cemex is a founding member of the First Movers Coalition (FMC), a global initiative that brings together business leaders to create market demand for net-zero carbon solutions in the transportation sector. The FMC aims to ensure that approximately 30% of heavy-duty road transport acquisitions by its members are zero-emissions vehicles by 2030.
