CEMEX, one of the biggest cement makers in the world, is rebranding its logistics-focused branch. From now on, the unit will be called Alliera and aim to maintain the company’s diversification strategy by growing to become the main logistics services company in Mexico.

Alliera has operated for 15 years as CEMEX Servicios Logísticos, offering its storage, transport and import services for companies in Mexico, Canada and the US. With the change of name, the company aims to maintain its business model diversification strategy, as well as position itself within the logistics operator market for key industries.

Alliera is part of CEMEX Urbanization Solutions, the company’s branch that offers complementary solutions to solve infrastructure needs of cities regarding sustainability, resilient buildings and circular solutions. “For Alliera, CEMEX’s strategic priorities are ensuring our colaborators’ health and safetyness, sustainability and innovation. Within this package of priorities, we always seek growth, as we do now with Alliera, which is part of Urbanization Solution, our most recently created business branch,” said Ricardo Naya, President, CEMEX Mexico.

According to Naya, the company will operate as an independent Third-Party Logistics (3PL) company, offering solutions like storage in and outside of sea ports, transport of liquids and gases, dock crossing and transport administration. Alliera will also provide Fourth-Party Logistics (4PL) services, like networking with key partners in Mexico, Canada and the US, governmental and customs solutions, as well as permits, investment corporate governance, among other services. “We want to become an ally for our customers, who will let Alliera’s expert hands lead their companies’ logistics. This enables them to invest their time and energy in growing their business,” Naya added.

Currently, Alliera has the capacity to transport more than two tons of goods every year using intermodal transportation. It also manages over 80,000m² of logistics infrastructure in more than 15 locations across Mexico.

CEMEX is the largest cement producer in Mexico and a leader in the global market. The company has recently turned its focus toward sustainability, investing in reducing its environmental impact as the construction industry demands more sustainable products. This led the company to develop low-emission concrete, commercialized under the name of Vertua. CEMEX has provided 2 million m³ of this concrete to important infrastructure projects in Mexico, including for the restoration of the Queretaro-Irapuato highway and the Vasconcelos Avenue in Nuevo Leon.
