Construction work has begun for the new Elevated Park on Tlalpan and San Antonio Abad avenues in Mexico City, with the excavation and placement of the first foundation piles.

Work crews have cordoned off the area near the intersection with Fray Servando Teresa de Mier to begin the excavations. Concrete piles, which will form the base of the elevated structure, are now on site, along with heavy machinery, reports Excelsior. As part of the initial phase, the street of Cerrada Fray Servando has been closed to vehicular traffic, with only a space for pedestrian passage remaining open.

The first stage of the project will run from the vicinity of Plaza Tlaxcoaque to the Chabacano station of Metro Line 2, with a later extension planned to reach Taxqueña. This initial phase is scheduled to be completed in May 2026, ahead of the FIFA World Cup. The total investment for the project is approximately MX$700 million (US$38.8 million).
