Creating New Environments Through Innovative Digital Platforms

STORY INLINE POST
Q: What are the most important aspects of Crestron’s development in the Mexican market?
A: Crestron Electronics is a North American company with close to 50 years in the market. We opened our Mexico office in 1997. The company has experienced a great deal of success and growing in the Audio and Video integration market in Latin American countries. We stand out in these markets thanks to our value offering, our technical support and training divisions. Our clients include the most important in Fortune 500. Our objective is to make sure that our clients execute their projects successfully. We see ourselves as providers of technologies that create new environments for our clients and their companies. As Crestron Flex, designed to have more opportunities and possibilities to communicate, collaborate and control from anywhere.
Twenty years ago, Crestron began working in the residential sector more than other sectors. Our technologies, which are quite expensive, were even more expensive back then, leading us to focus on high-end users. Our corporate clients were very limited back then but after the 2008-11 economic crisis, we began to see a higher demand for our technologies from our corporate clients, especially those in the financial sector. That has been a huge growth factor for us, especially with the advance of video conferencing technologies. Our corporate customers include clients in the educational sector, which includes major universities such as UNAM, IBERO and ITESM.
Q: How does Crestron overcome resistance to change?
A: In the early 2010s, we began to do a lot of on-site visits and began to offer our potential clients our technologies for a couple of weeks on a trial basis. This led to many of these companies implementing our technologies into their day-to-day activities. This was particularly true for our clients in the educational sector. Universities fell in love with these technologies and the many applications that they offered. In particular, they were happy to save a lot of money by using these technologies, which has allowed their researchers to travel a lot less, while getting the same amount of work done. This is why our clients have implemented the use of our technologies into their business models, budgets and balance sheets, instead of considering them as an unnecessary expense in flashy equipment or installations.
Q: What advantages did COVID-19 bring?
A: There have been ups and downs. For example, in the educational sector, many schools and universities have been closed since the pandemic began, halting our business in this sector. This sector represents an important part of our portfolio so there is some degree of concern on our part. We believe that activities in this sector will resume shortly and we will continue to consider it an essential part of our portfolio. We are creating more options and technologies that can easily be integrated into the tools being used in the digital classroom, such as Zoom. We are also in the process of creating tools that are easier to use in digital classrooms. We want these tools to have an immersive effect, so that we can provide students with a complete feeling of being inside the classroom. Digital classrooms have come up against a factor of alienation that we believe can be technologically mitigated. All of this has been reflected in the ongoing research and development throughout the pandemic. The other side of that coin is that the pandemic has introduced new requisites for students in digital classrooms, as well as for the residential sector, because more people are working from home where we have new opportunities with Home Conferencing from Crestron which ensures that each and every virtual connection is really effective, really collaborative and really satisfying.
