Demand for architectural shielding solutions in Mexico has increased by 13% this year, with jewelry stores being the establishments that have most requested this type of protection, according to the National Ballistics Industry Council (CNB).

CNB highlights a growing need for enhanced security in commercial and financial spaces due to an increase in criminal acts. In response, businesses are incorporating innovative materials to reinforce key areas like shopping centers, banks, currency exchanges, and administrative offices.

Ballistic polycarbonate is among the most used materials, often combined with glass or aramid fibers to strengthen entrances, display cases, service windows, ATMs, and vaults, highlights CNB. "The demand for shielding solutions has increased by 13% so far this year, with jewelry stores being the establishments that have most requested this type of protection," stated René Rivera, President of the Architectural Shielding Commission, CNB.

CNB highlights that in banking institutions, the most commonly reinforced points are ATMs, vaults, treasury areas, and public service windows. For shopping centers, shielding is typically focused on main entrances, emergency exits, high-value stores, control rooms, and administrative offices.

CNB emphasizes that installations must be carried out by certified companies using materials tested by specialized laboratories to ensure their effectiveness. "It is fundamental that the shielding is done with certified materials and equipment, as we are talking about solutions that involve people's lives," said Brenda Martínez, President of the Standards and Certifications Commission, CNB.
