Female empowerment and leadership are not just slogans; they are essential for profound and necessary change in the workplace and society. As women leaders, we bring a unique and transformative perspective to the business world that enriches organizational culture and strengthens results. However, the path toward more inclusive leadership is still filled with challenges and barriers that we must overcome to build a fairer future.

My career has been marked by moments where I had to make my way in spaces where female presence was minimal, often facing stereotypes and limiting expectations. According to Deloitte's “Women in the Boardroom” report, only 6% of CEOs worldwide are women, and only 8.4% of board chairs are women. These figures, while sobering, are not definitive; they are a reminder of the importance of continuing to open doors and demonstrating that female leadership is not only fair but vital for organizational growth.

In my experience, when women take on leadership roles, we bring a more inclusive and collaborative vision that translates into solid and sustainable results. Companies across sectors have found that including women in leadership roles enhances creativity, innovation, and openness — essential traits for competing in a globalized market.

Beyond that, when women occupy high-level positions, talent retention improves, and turnover decreases, strengthening organizational stability and growth. In short, female leadership drives both business success and social well-being.

Of course, to achieve significant change, we need intentional and committed efforts. Companies must implement mentorship programs, pay-equity initiatives, and professional development opportunities that allow more people to assume leadership roles without facing additional barriers.

At organizations like WeWork, for example, where nearly half of our leaders are women, we’ve seen how balanced representation strengthens decision-making and creates an inclusive environment. This benefits not only the organization but also sends a powerful message of commitment to equity.

Still, the path is not without challenges. Unconscious biases, the pressure to balance work and personal life, and persistent stereotypes continue to limit women's potential in the workplace. In Mexico, although 38% of senior management roles are held by women, this figure is still insufficient. Breaking these glass ceilings requires a collective effort that fosters the growth of a new generation of leaders.

To those aspiring to lead, I would say: trust your instincts, move forward with determination, and don’t hesitate to challenge expectations. Female empowerment also means empowering others, and each barrier we break opens the door to new opportunities for those who follow. There are no limits to what we can achieve if we act with courage and persistence.

Ultimately, empowering women in the workplace is not just a matter of equity; it’s a decisive step toward a future in which everyone, regardless of gender, can reach their full potential and contribute to societal progress. By promoting gender equality in leadership, we are building a more inclusive and prosperous world — a place where everyone’s vision and talent can flourish and make a difference.
