SICT to Expropriate Land for Suburban Train Connection to AIFA

According to a recent decree, SICT is to expropriate over 5.2ha of land in the municipalities of Tultepec and Tultitlan in State of Mexico to construct a cargo operation area. Locals who have constantly protested against the project are now showing their opposition to the decree. The latter, however, was published on the Official Gazette (DOF) and is to be signed by President López Obrador in benefit of the public, the president says. Inhabitants of Tultepec and Tultitlan will not be able to present a complaint against the project, although they will be able to file for compensation within the 10 days following the decree’s publication.

SICT to Assess State of Federal Highways

SICT will assess the state of the country’s Federal Road system, as the Mexican government continues to invest in projects to properly manage highway conditions. The objective of the program is to improve safety conditions. “(This will) help to define the physical condition of pavements from a functional, structural and road safety point of view, allowing to plan for road maintenance programs to provide comfort and safety to users,” reads SICT’s press release.
