Mayan Train’s Construction Continues Despite Resistance

For the second time, a judge filed a definitive suspension against the Mayan Train project, which was recently declared a matter of “national security.” Contrary to what López Obrador suggested, Mexico City International Airport (AICM) Terminal 2 needs refurbishing to operate in the short term. In addition, authorities argue that AICM’s closures were prearranged to not significantly affect airline operations.

For the second time, a local judge in Yucatan ruled in favor of an environmental civil association that asked for a definitive suspension of the construction of the Mayan Train’s Section 5 for developmental irregularities and failure to comply with environmental regulation.

AICM Terminal 2 Not Reconstructed but Renovated, Says Expert

Mexico City International Airport (AICM) has been under public scrutiny since a pothole in one of the runways disrupted the airport's operations, as industry insiders point toward a deteriorating airport infrastructure, exacerbated by lacking maintenance and resource mismanagement. In this context, President López Obrador proposed an overhaul or reconstruction of Terminal 2, though some experts see the latter option as unlikely to materialize. 

AICM to Close Runway During Set Timeframes

After Mexico City International Airport (AICM) operated with just one runway last weekend due to the a pothole that caused delays and cancelations for flights, authorities announced that one of the two runways will be closed for programmed maintenance for the remainder of the week.
