Sheinbaum Launches Plan to Improve Eastern State of Mexico

President Claudia Sheinbaum has launched the “Love for Love” plan to improve water systems, transport, housing, and safety in 10 Eastern State of Mexico municipalities, backed by MX$48 billion in investment over six years. Key efforts include reactivating wells, building drainage systems to prevent flooding, launching the Chalco–Santa Martha Trolleybus, introducing new Cablebús lines, enhancing public safety with a unified security command, and delivering housing support and land titles. 

Mexico to Block Imports From Over Half of Steel Plants

Mexico will block imports from over half of the registered steel plants due to irregularities, aiming to ensure fair trade and protect the national industry, Minister of Economy Marcelo Ebrard announced. Over 1,000 registrations showed inconsistencies, prompting a review and cancellation process.

Mexico’s Fixed Investment Drops 7.8% in February 2025

In February 2025, Mexico’s gross fixed investment dropped 7.8% year-on-year, marking its seventh straight decline, driven by reduced spending on construction and machinery. Uncertainty over US trade policy may be dampening investor confidence.

Mexico City-Queretaro Train to Link Four Public Transit Systems

The Mexico City-Queretaro Train project has officially launched, aiming to serve around 6 million people by connecting Mexico City, the State of Mexico, Hidalgo, and Queretaro via a 226km route completed in just two hours. With major stops including Tula, San Juan del Rio, and a terminal at La Corregidora in Queretaro, the train will integrate with multiple public transport systems to enhance regional mobility. 

Brugada Unveils Urban Renewal Plan Near Estadio Azteca

Mexico City Mayor Clara Brugada has launched a comprehensive urban renewal plan around Estadio Azteca ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, focusing on water infrastructure, sustainable housing, mobility improvements, and public space revitalization. With a strong community-centered approach, the project aims to address long-standing local needs while preparing the area to host international visitors.
