Guatemala to Build Its Own Section of the Interoceanic Corridor
Mexico will advance the CIIT rail line to Guatemala’s border, while Guatemala will be responsible for building its section, President Sheinbaum confirmed after a historic trilateral meeting with Belize and Guatemala that also launched regional rail projects and a new 5.7 million ha biocultural corridor.
The Mayan Train experienced a track incident at Izamal station, Yucatan, when one car partially derailed due to a track switch malfunction. All passengers were unharmed and transferred safely, while authorities launched an investigation to identify the cause and implement stronger safety measures.
CONAGUA to Improve Water Practices at 200,000ha of Farmland
CONAGUA will lead a MX$60 billion program to modernize irrigation on 200,000ha of farmland, repairing canals, dams, and flood systems to recover 2.8 billion m³ of water, three times Mexico City’s annual supply, while boosting agricultural productivity and efficiency.
ICA Consortium Wins Contract for Saltillo-Nuevo Laredo Train
The ARTF awarded ICA a MX$14.68 billion contract to build the first 100km of the Saltillo–Nuevo Laredo passenger train, part of a US$7.46 billion project set for completion in 2028.
Mota-Engil Wins MX$6.58 Billion Contract for Queretaro–Irapuato Train
ARTF awarded Mota-Engil México a MX$6.58B contract to design and build 30.7km of the Queretaro–Irapuato passenger train, set for completion in 2027.
State of Mexico Rolls Out 2024–29 Program for Water Management
