Construction Grows in May, Reaches Historical Levels

According to IMEF, the construction sector significantly increased in May, mainly due to the latest investment in transportation, urban infrastructure and nearshoring. INEGI also reported that the industry's production value grew 7.82% in May, the best result since 2006.

Navigating Growth: Mexican Ports Expand Their Horizons

Mexico keeps growing its economic ties with two new maritime routes. The first one will enhance connectivity between the ports of Tuxpan, Veracruz, and Alabama, the US. This maritime service will connect with Canadian National's rail network to transport containers and will open in September 2023. The second project involves a port in Yantai, China, which opened its first cargo route to Mexico destined for the Manzanillo Port. 

CAMEINTRAM, WWF Unite to Green Mexico's Maritime Sector

A joint partnership between CAMEINTRAM and WWF is working on marine conservation and the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to decarbonize Mexico's maritime and port industry. This collaboration aims to improve port communities' health and protect maritime and coastal ecosystems.

Decades in the Making: Picachos, Santa Maria Dams Take Off

A decades-in-the-making project, the Picachos dam in Sinaloa, is finally paying off to boost agricultural prosperity and improve water supply to communities, as the Picachos-Concordia aqueduct is set to be completed in December 2023. The project's benefits go beyond agriculture, supplying water for domestic consumption, irrigating over 20,000 hectares and generating electricity.

IMCC Leads the Way in Circular Economy

In the same green path, the IMCC aims to achieve a circular economy by strengthening its PET collection capacity, as the organization has become one of the country's main recyclers of food-grade PET. The company plans to make 100% of its packaging recyclable worldwide by 2025, reduce virgin PET by 3 million tons by 2025.
