President Claudia Sheinbaum states that construction of the Mexico–Queretaro passenger train is underway, as the train is scheduled to be completed in 2027. The project seeks to reestablish Queretaro as a central hub for passenger rail in the country, complementing its role in freight transport.

“This project will be ready in 2027; we will be cutting the ribbon then, and Queretaro will recover its vocation as the center of the country for passenger trains. It already plays this role for freight, but now it will also be the center for passenger trains, since from Queretaro the route will extend to San Luis Potosi and all the way to Nuevo Laredo, on the US border,” states Sheinbaum.

During a morning press conference, Sheinbaum also announced complementary infrastructure initiatives for Queretaro. Among them are the construction of vehicle bridges on Avenida de los Patos and Highway 57 in San Juan del Rio. She also confirmed the development of a new Technological Baccalaureate in El Marques, scheduled for completion in December 2025, as well as a new campus of the Universidad Nacional Rosario Castellanos (UNRC). In addition, she revealed that a Centro LIBRE for women will be established in each municipality of the state.

She also underlined the importance of housing programs under Housing for Well-Being. In Queretaro, 25,000 homes are being built by Infonavit, while another 7,000 are being developed by CONAVI. Relief has also been granted on non-payable mortgages, benefiting 137,926 INFONAVIT families and 4,810 FOVISSSTE beneficiaries.

Sheinbaum highlights that a total of 496,016 residents benefit from federal social programs, representing an annual investment of MX$11.9 billion (US$648.0 million). Of these, 205,542 seniors receive the Well-Being Pension for Older Adults, while 15,785 people with disabilities are supported through the dedicated pension program. Additionally, 68,133 students benefit from Benito Juarez scholarships, 42,372 receive support through basic education grants, and 3,278 young people are enrolled in Youths Building the Future Program. Other programs include support for agricultural producers, free fertilizer distribution, milk distribution under Milk for Well-Being, and school support through The School is Ours, which benefits 989 basic schools and 42 high schools.

Sheinbaum states that these initiatives mark an unprecedented level of federal support for the state: “I believe we will be the government that has supported Queretaro the most in recent years.”
