Michoacan Unveils Industrial, Logistics Hub Eleva Park
Michoacan unveiled a new industrial and logistics park, Eleva Park, which will be powered by a strong investment from the private sector to improve connectivity and attract investments to the state. The project’s announcement comes after State Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla announced the construction of a cable car system in the city of Uruapan.
The new industrial and logistics hub aims to attract major investments to the state. The Eleva Park project is the first industrial park fully developed and supported by the private sector in the state and aims to generate more than 28,000 jobs, according to a press release by the Government of Michoacan.
Ramírez highlighted the importance of the private sector, arguing that this investment "changes the way of visualizing and operating the industrial parks of Michoacán.” Tonatiuh Salinas, CEO, InvestMx, and Eduardo Ramírez, CEO, Citelis, explained that the project offers opportunities to enhance and expand industrial chains and investments.
“Michoacan has everything to transform, change and become part of the great commercial chain of Bajio. We have the port of Lazaro Cardenas, which is the most strategic one due to its location in the country, free communication routes, universities and other facilities to promote the USMCA," said Ramírez.
Claudio Méndez, Michoacan’s Minister of Economic Development, explained that an agenda is being built by the public and private sector to further develop projects in the short, medium and long term.
Eleva Park is deemed as a world-class industrial park that will connect Michoacan with the Bajio region, the west of Mexico and Mexico City, generating significant economic benefits. The project aims to make Michoacan a major part of the Bajio's production chain.
In December 2022, Ramírez had announced the launch of a cable car system in Uruapan, similar to the two lines of Mexico City’s Cablebus. At the time, Ramírez explained that studies found that the city’s communities lacked mobility alternatives. Thus, the project would restructure the current transportation network of the city and strengthen the area’s transportation services, as reported by MBN.
