Progress Reported at Nuevo Leon’s Metro Lines 4 and 6 Plant
Nuevo Leon Governor, Samuel García, visited the Prefabrication Plant for Metro Lines 4 and 6, where he inspected key areas such as production, storage, and internal railways. He observed the progress being made in the construction of these new metro lines.
“This is a message to Nuevo Leon, that we are working at full speed to complete Lines 4 and 6. This factory has already produced 400 beams, 200 of which are installed on the metro lines, while another 200 are in stock, undergoing a one-month drying process,” says García.
The project will enter an intensive phase, increasing the number of workers and machinery involved. “We will see a major effort with more cranes placing beams and piling machines drilling foundations. Our goal is to have between 9 and 10km completed before the World Cup,” adds García.
The prefabrication plant, covering an area of 100,000m2, has the capacity to produce 1,862 beams—575 for Line 4 and 1,287 for Line 6. To optimize time and costs, different types of beams have been developed, including rolling, AASHTO, and precast slabs, designed to adapt to curves ranging from 46 to 100m.
Each beam weighs approximately 70t and measures 28m in length, with a height of 2.40m and a width of 66cm. A key highlight is the prefabrication of curved beams, a pioneering innovation in Mexico that provides a modern, lightweight design suited for urban environments. García reaffirms the importance of supporting local products and businesses, encouraging both small and large enterprises to contribute to the economic growth of Nuevo Leon.
