Royalton Bets US$100 Million on Cancun Expansion
Royalton Hotels & Resorts will invest US$100 million in Royalton Vessence Cancun, a 376-suite project that will expand its Mexico portfolio to 11 properties and reinforce Quintana Roo’s position as a key destination for luxury hospitality investment.
Canadian hotel company Royalton Hotels & Resorts will invest US$100 million in a new property in Cancun, Quintana Roo, reinforcing Mexico’s role as one of the company’s key markets as tourism investment continues to expand in the country.
The project, Royalton Vessence Cancun, was announced during Tianguis Turístico 2026 by Alejandro Rodríguez, Vice President of Marketing and Communications, Royalton. The new hotel will bring Royalton’s portfolio in Mexico to 11 properties, consolidating the country as one of the company’s most important destinations, reports Milenio.
Royalton has not published an official statement confirming the US$100 million investment figure. However, the company’s official communications confirm that Royalton Vessence Cancun is part of its expansion strategy in Mexico, alongside the recent addition of The Westin Resort & Spa Cancun and broader plans to strengthen its presence in the country.
The new resort is expected to feature 376 suites and will operate under the Royalton Vessence concept, a brand focused on wellness, cultural design, and adults-oriented luxury hospitality. Royalton previously announced that the property will be located about 25 minutes from Cancun International Airport, with a projected opening for the Fall/Winter 2026 season.
Mexico already represents Royalton’s largest concentration of all-inclusive properties. The company’s portfolio in the country includes resorts in Cancun, Riviera Maya, and Holbox, among them Royalton Riviera Cancun, Royalton CHIC Cancun, Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun, Mystique Holbox, Planet Hollywood Cancun by Royalton, and The Westin Resort & Spa Cancun.
The investment comes as Mexico continues to position tourism as a strategic driver for regional development, employment, and foreign investment. For Quintana Roo, Royalton Vessence Cancun adds another large-scale hotel project to one of the country’s most competitive tourism markets, where connectivity, international demand, and high-end lodging continue to attract hotel operators.
Royalton has also signaled interest in expanding beyond the Mexican Caribbean. The company is analyzing potential openings in Nayarit, Puerto Vallarta, and Los Cabos, destinations that would allow the company to diversify its presence in Mexico’s Pacific and Baja California tourism corridors, reports Milenio.
The company has emphasized Mexico’s importance within its global strategy. In April, Royalton said Mexico is its largest all-inclusive market and reported more than 4,500 employees across its operations in Cancun, Riviera Maya, and Holbox.
With Royalton Vessence Cancun, the company is betting on continued demand for luxury all-inclusive travel in Mexico, while also strengthening Cancun’s position as a leading destination for international hotel investment.
