The Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT) announced that two projects are being built to facilitate entry to the Felipe Angeles International Airport (AIFA). The projects include a 16.2-kilometer road, three distributors and the modernization of 15.6 kilometers of the Mexico-Pachuca highway financed through the National Infrastructure Fund (FONADIN).

The project involves “the construction of two road distributors in the military zone for access to the airport at kilometers 42 and 43 of the Mexico-Pachuca Libre highway. And the expansion from four to eight lanes of the Mexico-Pachuca highway by 15.6 kilometers with a time saving of 5 minutes,” reads SICT’s press release.

SICT specified that the works will allow travelers to go from Casa Morelos to AIFA in 9 minutes, making transportation more efficient. It also explained that the 23-kilometer Suburban Railroad is 36 percent completed and the project is expected to be concluded in December 2023, enhancing connectivity to the airport. The 23-kilometer long Suburban Railroad was built by SICT and the Ministry of National Defense (SEDENA). It will involves 15 kilometers from the Lechería Station managed by SICT and 8 kilometers managed by SEDENA. The total distance from the Buenavista Station to AIFA is 42 kilometers. The station will have six intermediate stations and a terminal with a travel time of 39 minutes without transfers.
